Fast Loan - Danger, Danger
Are you in over your head, financially? Are you running out of ideas as to where you can come up with the cash?Do you need to meet the demands of an unexpected expense?
Fast loan protections
If you are thinking of taking our a fast loan from one of the paycheck advance companies, be forewarned. One of the best things you can do to protect yourself is to check with the Better Business Bureau beforehand to see if there are any complaints registered against them. Why should you do this? Because of the notoriety of the fast loan industry, in general.
What have you heard? Well, if you went onto the BBB's website and/or www.ripoffreport.com, you'd get an eyeful - with some companies. Consumers are complaining about falling into a pattern of rolling over the repayment date and paying a charge of around $30 with one particular fast loan company. One report, testified to having taking out an extension five times on a loan of $150. Then being charged additional fees and suddenly, without notice, not being able to continue extending the due date.
Fast loan and communication
The problem with many of the fast loan companies is in communication. For instance, as in the case outlined above, the consumer was unsuccessful in attempting to contact them about the extension and repayment procedure. At that point, the consumer was put on hold with the phone extension never being picked up and all emails were unanswered. Since the fast loan lender had all the direct deposit data, they attempted to withdraw over $600 from the consumers' account - and the initial loan was only for $150! This caused a spiral of bounced checks and fees. Next the consumer received a very rude phone call from threatening collections agents, demanding the money. When attempting to contact the payday loan company through all methods -fax, phone, email - s/he was unable to get a live human. The consumer claims to have had to file for bankruptcy protection.
The point in bringing up this story is that yes, the payday lending industry is dangerous. Just think, of all the states in this nation, 37 allow the practice of payday lending. The rest have made this type of predatory lending illegal. Federal legislators are seemingly looking away. State legislators call the shots. Among the bad, there are some good. You want to make sure you have thoroughly researched a lender you are considering to ensure that you don't fall into the same type of trap as outlined above. Good luck.
